Kizilyaka is a typical Turkish village where the residents are very friendly and only too pleased to welcome visitors to their community. The private villas are situated in a quiet location slightly away from the village towards the surrounding fields & mountains. The Village The village centre with its shops, supermarkets, fruit stalls & teahouses is about 1000m away from the villas. Here you will find everything you need for a self-catering holiday (see below). In fact, the baker delivers fresh bread daily to the villas.

There is a local Pide House (Turkish Pizza & Casseroles) where you can order food to take away and an eat in restaurant, snack shop, currency change, at the modern petrol station on the main road.

The Mosque is in the centre of the village & visits inside can be arranged. For the men, a trip to the barber is highly recommended. The local market is held in the village on Sundays. Further afield you can find numerous restaurants, but would obviously require car hire. A more comprehensive information file (language, pronunciation, local customs etc.) will be sent to all parties booking a villa.

The local countryside provides for lovely walks to nearby villages. They are remarkably cheap, efficient and offer an insight into the local lifestyle.

The Surrounding Area The villas are ideally situated to explore the surrounding area and also beyond. The local road infrastructure is good, providing relatively easy access to many places of interest.

The pretty seaside resort of Akyaka, with its ‘Ula-Mugla' style of architecture, renowned river restaurants, sandy town beach and the stunning pebble beach at Cinar, is only a 10 minute drive from the villas. Here you will find boat trips to take you to many of the places of interest. The Dalyan Delta, designated a wildlife sanctuary since the mid 1980's is a 30-minute drive away.

At the head of the delta lies Lake Koycegiz, a large mystical lake that many years ago formed a natural harbour. The conservationist's main efforts have been focused on Iztuzu beach, which remains one of the last remaining nesting sites for Loggerhead sea turtles from May to September. Iztuzu beach has six kilometers of glorious golden sands uninterrupted by human intervention. The beach is rarely, if ever crowded. Here can also be found the ancient rock tombs, originally the resting places of the Kings of Caunos and the Sultaniye hot springs with their therapeutic mud baths.

Cleopatra's Island – Soft white sands and crystal clear waters on Roman ruins. The area is surrounded by green hills and is presently protected by a conservation order. Inland there are the ruins of a small Roman amphitheater, towers and a church. Legend says that the sand was brought all the way from Egypt for Antony & Cleopatra's honeymoon. The island can be reached independently or on one of the boat trips from Akyaka.

App 30 mins from villas. The very busy resort of Marmaris with its numerous bars and restaurants is 40 minutes away. Here are all the usual visitor attractions plus a water park, bazaar, Thursday market, Castle and the quieter neighboring resort of Icmeler is a further 5 minutes. The island of Rhodes can also be visited from Marmaris. Mugla city is 35 minutes away where you can sample local life in a large town. The drive to Mugla allows the most beautiful views over the Gulf of Gokova. The very spacious open-plan living area is extremely comfortable with ample seating. Extra seating is provided for larger parties. There is a modern television with satellite, receiving European channels. The settees and chairs convert to beds if so required. There is a large dining table & six chairs for formal eating. For al-fresco dining the verandas have dining table & chairs. There are two sets of patio doors leading onto the veranda, which stretches around the entire living area. Once again the views out of all windows and from the verandas are breath-taking.

The villas stand on a plot totaling 5000 sq metres. The rear of the property has space to park 4 cars with grass areas and paths leading to entrance doors to both properties. Each villa has it's own grassed open plan garden area with ample space for sunbathing, ball games etc. Paths lead from each property to the superb 15m x 8m freeform swimming pool with Jacuzzi & kiddies pool. This is a constant depth of 1.6m. There are sun-loungers and parasols and more than enough space for sunbathing. Beyond the pool is an extensive grassed area measuring approx. 2500 sq metres for children to play in a secure environment as the whole grounds are enclosed by a tall fence.
