This historical Palace, recently restored, is on the
first floor of the 17th century palace located in the
city centre of Lucca, next to the shopping area and the
main monuments and museums. The spacious rooms, decorated
with frescos and stuccos, and the original furniture offer
the reserved atmosphere of an ancient noble mansion. The
famous musician Alfredo Catalani was born here and the
bedrooms are dedicated to his operas. There are meeting
rooms for shows and conventions. Air conditioning and
wireless internet connections are provided in each room.
There are 3 bedrooms and 3 suites with private bathrooms,
direct telephone line, satellite TV and safe. Lift, halls
for meetings and conventions, private parking. The
price of rooms and suites are in Euros, per night and
include breakfast.
The palazzo has always been a property of the family
and its architectural characteristics are due to Giuseppe
Tucci, one of the ancestors of the present owners, who,
having married to Maria Teresa Guinigi, decided to restore
the mansion, owned since the XVI century, with architectural
innovation.
The restoration has been so radical that no medieval
trace remains in the façade while the rear, backing
plaster, shows the original structure, made of several
buildings and towers. A beautiful arch, made of decorated
“cotto”, is still visible in the vine yard
and proves the great importance the mansion had in the
past. Most probably Giuseppe Tucci ordered the restoration
project to Ottaviano Diodati who, in those years, was
one of the most modern and innovative architect in Italy,
France and in Vienna.
It’s not by chance that the Palazzo is one of the
few in town showing a sort of “viennese” style.
The building is in an area inside the roman walls and
its main entrance in one of down town roads. The main
façade is characterized by a grand main door surmounted
by a family crest and the inscription“JOSEPH TUCCIUS
SIBI POSTERISQUE - A. D. MDCCLXXIX”.
