Almancil is a bustling town of 5000 inhabitants and is located 15 minutes from Faro airport and 10 minutes from the vast beaches of Quinta do Largo and Vale do Lobo. The town retains its own small charm but at the same time boasts a large selection of restaurants in all price ranges, bars, tempting bakeries, (weight watchers stay away ) and various other shops, banks and services including a wonderful modern supermarket. The famous church of Sao Lourenco is a few minutes drive away as are the local art gallery and cultural facilities.

For sports and beach lovers, Almancil is surrounded by six championship golf courses, three tennis centres, plus go karting and two water park complexes. The number of wide open and vast beaches located within a 10-15 minute drive are too many to mention but include the famous beaches of Vale Do Lobo, and Quinta do Largo.
