Kalkan is a chic and sophisticated resort with a great selection of restaurants, most with rooftop terraces with fantastic views. The food is exquisite and a good balance between traditional Turkish and International cuisine.

Kalkan is also a shoppers paradise with a good mix of traditional Turkish goods and great boutiques all at fantastic prices. Water sports and day trips are available in abundance. An absolute must is a boat trip out around the islands. Patara beach, with 18miles of sandy beach, is approx 20mins away and can be reached either by Dolmus (the local bus) or by taxi. Our guests return year after year.

It's a beautiful, spacious and well air-conditioned villa with a lovely clean pool and comfortable terrace dining. It is quite a steep hill down to the town – about 10 – 15 minutes gentle stroll, but the taxis are very cheap to take you back up at the end of the night if you don't want to walk. The quality of the restaurants and the food they serve is excellent, as is the standard of hygiene. I can honestly say that this is the first holiday abroad when I have not had any stomach upsets of any sort. There are supermarkets and greengrocers within walking distance and the fresh fruit tastes fantastic. There is a market every week, half way down the hill, which is well worth a visit. Lots of shops and bargains to be had, but make sure you haggle. The people in Kalkan are so genuinely friendly, it's a pleasure to wander around in the evening. One thing they are not, is pushy or forceful. There are a lot of stray dogs and cats but they are not a problem and are well looked after and fed everyday by a local charity. A holiday of total relaxation and indulgence and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending anyone to pay a visit to Villa Suro Ev. There are few villas so convenient for the town, the dolmus, supermarket etc. All just a short walk down the hill and a not too long walk back up, which keeps you fit and helps walk off all those calories gained in the fantastic restaurants of Kalkan. We were absolutely delighted we managed to get a booking. The garden and the pool are so private and the pool is really large compared to some villas we have rented. We will definitely be going back and wouldn't stay anywhere else.
