Cyprus villa holidays are an excellent base for exploring the island

If you are staying in a Cyprus villa this summer then why not visit the newly discovered 4,000 year old temple.

Expert Maria Rosaria told Associated Press, "This confirms that religious worship in Cyprus began much earlier than previously believed". This is one of the many places to visit in Cyprus, which also offers a long history with historical artefacts over 9,000 years old. One of the most famous places to visit is Aphrodite's rock where it is said that the goddess emerged from out of the sea.

Remnants from Roman settlements and Greek temples can be found all over the island so staying in self catering accommodation in a villa in Cyprus makes this an excellent base to explore.

Shoppers queued for the opening of the store and appeared not to be disappointed by the range of products. The shop stocks over 10,000 lines with many well know brands from the UK.

Manager, David Doolan said he was very pleased with the first week of trading, adding that a constant stream of shoppers was encouraging.

For the town of Javea, 50 new jobs have been created with 30 of them full-time and 20 part-time.

For holiday visitors staying in self catering accommodation in Javea this new store is great news and an addition to the other great supermakers and stores in and around the Javea area.

New apartments on the Costa del Sol are not selling

Holiday villas in Spain situated in some of the best tourist hotspot coastal resorts have been hardest hit by the downturn in the property market. Apartment developments have also been hit hard as demand a
has dried up.

New developments on some parts of the Spanish Mediterranean coast now take an average of 4 years to sell, compared with just 'a few days' at the height of the property boom in 2005.

It is thought that over half of the new apartments on the Costa del Sol are sitting unsold.

Visitors to apartments in Mijas are not welcome by the courts

150 gypsy families are now squatting in an empty, unfinished housing development in Mijas which has been repossessed.

The development of some 34 apartments including Penthouses, car park and enclosed gardens is called Golden Hills, Mijas. It is owned by the banks since construction stopped after financial problems for the builder over two years ago.

The gypsy families have said that they have moved into the empty apartments because of the deterioration and condition of their own homes in Molino de Viento. They are willing to take on the electricity bills, the water bills and "everything that is necessary."

Local Police and Civil Guards are patrolling the area and are expecting the courts to issue an eviction order shortly.

Mallorca holiday home owners and buyers feel relief from falling Euribor

Potential buyers of holiday homes in Mallorca and existing owners felt some relief at last after news came of the falling Euribor. The Euribor is the interest rate most commonly used to calculate mortgage payments in Spain. Holiday home owners are now expecting their mortgage rates to lower in line with these recent cuts, looking for some recovery in the Mallorcan housing market.

New buyers of Mallorca holiday homes may not see the benefits from this unless they take over an existing loan because lenders have raised the risk premiums which they charge in anticipation of higher default rates, and thus overall interest charges.

If a new buyer was to take over the loan from the current owner, they could then take over the loan and benefit from rate reductions. This is called loan subrogation and compared with new loans there are much lower costs involved.

The property market in Mallorca has been in decline for sometime now and we cannot expect things to change round anytime soon, however there is hope that the decline will slow and perhaps bottom out towards the end of 2009.

Owners of holiday homes in Mallorca for rental this summer are finding that things are slower in terms of rentals however a recent upwards trend is encouraging and holiday rentals in Mallorca for 2009 are looking more promising. Areas in Mallorca which have always been popular with visitors include Alcudia which is close to the beaches of Marina, Mal Pas and Barcares. Also a popular holiday destination and villa hot spot in Mallorca is Cala D'Or which is one of the most exclusive resorts in the Balearic Islands.
