Costa Calida can be found in the southeastern part of Spain, and its coastline didn't attract that many tourists until recent years. Between the area's low costs and sunshine year-round, it has proven to be a popular area for travellers. Some British ex-pats and Russian investors have made their vacation homes there.
The average temperature in Costa Calida is 68F, and this area has so much sun that it actually only sees rain on roughly forty days a year. The temperature of the sea at the beaches rarely dips lower than 64F. The area is also easily accessed, since you can fly into airports that are within an hour's drive.
The World Health Organization recently found that the Murcia province has the cleanest air in all of Spain, and the lowest levels of industrial pollution. This is a wonderful place to find holiday villas in Murcia and to rent direct with the owner with many of these villas and apartments having private or shared access to private swimming pools. The sea inlet called Mar Menor is the largest salt-water lagoon in Europe, and people believe that it has curative properties for arthritis and rheumatism.
In the summertime, the water temperature in Mar Menor is nearly bath-tub temperature, so you'll find it a great place for jet-skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and sailing. If you're more interested in relaxation, the water is the perfect temperature for that, too. The lagoon is shallow, and is a perfect place to wade and play with your little children.
This part of Spain is very well known for it's golf courses and golfing holidays and in particular the holiday villas in La Manga are a really special place to spend family holidays if dad's really into his golf as the whole family can stay together on the resort and dad's never going to be far away.
Near the southern-most tip of Costa Calida, you can tour a Moorish hilltop town called Mojacar. It is made up of an interesting and charming cluster of old and whitewashed buildings, which are located on winding, narrow streets. During the summertime, the beach area is open 24 hours, with lots of leisure time or water sports activities, and at night, the nightlife in the area is lively and unique. There are all kinds of night shows and events, and you will enjoy yourself, regardless of your age. When you want to stop for a great meal, visit Garrucha, a fishing port nearby, which is famous for its fresh seafood dishes.
