Ibiza, Spain is becoming more and more known for its night life, but it's more than a place to party. The sandy beaches are clean and white, and quaint villages dot the cliff sides. The areas not near the beach are hilly and green, and home to olive and fig trees. The main village on the island is Cuidad de Ibiza, known by British tourists as Ibiza Town. This town is in the southern part of Ibiza, and, in addition to the night life, it not only offers holiday villas but also an older area hosting some wonderful restaurants, and a thriving marina.
Ibiza is nearly the largest of the Balearic Islands, and it attracts many different classes and ages of visitors. The island's main resort town, San Antonio, is trying to update its image, since it was cluttered with apartment buildings and high-rise hotels. Travellers enjoy the clubs, Eden and Es Paradis, and the nearby areas with their wonderful beaches. You might want to arrive at the beach earlier, to get a good spot. There is a small satellite island known as “Formentera”, that can only be reached by ferry, where the crowds are much less dense, with more room to relax.
The cave complex of Cova de Can Marca lies several miles north of Sant Miguel village. The caves are commercial and now are fitted with special lighting and sound effects, for an interesting tour experience.
The old Ibiza Town is the island's capital and many of the villa holidays in Ibiza suite the vacation resort, with its Gothic buildings, whitewashed houses and cobblestone streets. The courtyards bloom with bougainvillea and geraniums, and historic walls enclose the town.
The salt flats, La Salinas, are quite close to the airport, and something well worth the short trip to see. They have been used for over two thousand years, since the years of the earliest colonists to the area.
For something more modern, and a great way to spend a hot afternoon, visit the Aguamar Waterpark. It features seven water slide sets, ranging in appeal for kids of all ages. They also offer shallow pools and small rides for young children. Many fast food options are close-by, for a quick snack or meal.
